Greed

A farmer in a village had a goat. She grazed the whole day without being satiated. One day, she grazed from early morning till evening but was not contented due to her being inflicted with polyphagia.

In the evening, she found the door of the farmer’s residence open and entered the room. In a corner of the room, she saw a cotton sack full of wheat. She tore the sack with her mouth and swallowed in a moment a large quantity of wheat grains.

A long day grazing, followed by swallowing a huge quantity of grains, caused her to suffer from bloating.

She came out of the room in a dizzy condition and fell down in the courtyard. Her belly was swollen, and a kind of foam was spilling from her mouth.

When the farmer saw this, he was worried and rushed to provide her with medical treatment.

His efforts, however, ended up in vain as the goat had already knocked on the door of a nearby slaughterhouse.

Goat: A greedy self.
Swollen belly: The outcome of greed.
Slaughterhouse: An untoward end of life.
