Coconut, Monkey and Fox

Once a fox was passing through an island where she saw many coconut trees with monkeys sitting on them. The monkeys were plucking coconuts from the trees, eating the fruit, and throwing away the shells.

Seeing that, the fox also started collecting coconuts, which she stored near a bush.

After collecting, she was worried about how to take these coconuts back to her home in a nearby cave. Then, an idea came to her mind. She cut a dense bush with her mouth, put all the coconuts on the bush, and started pulling the whole lot back to her cave with her mouth.

During that process, she injured her mouth and her paws started bleeding. Her whole body became dirty, and she was greatly fatigued.

On the way to her cave, she met a wise elephant. The elephant asked the fox, “Why and where are you carrying these coconuts?”

The fox replied, “I have seen monkeys eating coconuts, so I also decided to collect coconuts and carry them home.”

The elephant said, “But the monkeys only eat the meat from the coconut. They do not lift the burden of the shells and remains.”

The elephant also pointed out, “Coconut is not a food for a fox. Why then are you suffering from this hard work?”
